POEMS BY DEVIN

BEFORE AFTER

The Forest

The forest smells like blooming flowers
And it feels like April showers.
I can taste the rain falling from the sky.
I hear the butterflies’ wings flapping by.
I see that everything is
fine !

Forest – Good Bye

Everyone, everyone, come here now!
I have bad news.
Factories, houses, streets, and more,
are going to take over the forest floor!
Run ! !
Help ! !

POEMS BY MARIANA

BEFORE AFTER

Home Sweet Home

Home sweet home.
I drink from a clean lake.
I breathe clean air.
I have a
home sweet home.
I have a bed, a food source,
A place to hide,
No people around,
Smells fresh,
Feels fresh,
Tastes fresh (yum).
It’s fresh!

Home Gross Home

Home gross home.
I drink from a dirty lake.
I breathe dirty air.
I have no home sweet home.
I have no bed, no food source,
No place to hide,
Lots of people around,
Smells spoiled,
Feels spoiled,
Tastes spoiled (yuck),
It’s spoiled!

POEMS BY DEMIR

BEFORE AFTER

Wolf

I am a wolf.
My name is Bolf.
I live under trees.
I love being free

They Destroy My Home

I am sad.
I feel bad.
I look around me.
And see broken trees.
I can’t drink water.
And it’s getting hotter.

POEMS BY JESSE

BEFORE AFTER

Rattlesnake

I look like a scary
fierce snake.
I have large pointy fangs
and my tail rattles.
My scales are green with
black and red designs.
I live in a forest
tall and green.
There is lots of stuff for me to eat
like an egg inside a hole.
My dangerous enemy is a bear.
Except for him,
I’m happy as can be.

Rattlesnake

I am a rattlesnake
I hate this place
Because it has been
Polluted.
It has been built with roads and factories.
My hiding spot has been destroyed.
My feeding area has been polluted.
My drinking hole has chemicals.
It makes me feel like I’ve been
put in a desert with
no food or water.
I feel sick and I think I’m going
to die.

POEMS BY MANTHANA

BEFORE AFTER

I was a white, fluffy,
whooshy bunny.
I was so happy
like I was gonna
blast my head off!
Clean, fresh forest,
Nice and clean.
As fresh as it can ever be!
Oh, my habitat got destroyed
I’m sad when homes,
hiding places
all get destroyed.
Water is dirty.
My friends are sick. Oh!
Who would ever do such a
terrible thing?

POEMS BY MICHAEL

BEFORE AFTER

Furry, antlers
Happy with joy, jumping
up
             and
down
             all around the
                        woods!
                        Deer

Mad,
greedy
looking for food,
The lake is polluted
In the
messed up
                       woods!
                       Deer

POEMS BY ANDRE

BEFORE AFTER

Before

Weeee!
Isn’t it
so glorious
that
I am up here,
happy in my tree?

After

What happened here?
Where is my
tree?
No!
Don’t kill
me!

POEMS BY ALYSSA

BEFORE AFTER

It feels like home,

              Fresh clean water
              "delicious"

As I fly through the air,
              delicious food to eat.

It smells like animals
              breathe
              sweet
              smashed
              berries

I hear babies slurping their mom’s milk

              I am a
              cardinal!

I didn’t care that much
When the house was built.

            The people
            in the house
            put out bird feeders
            and cups of water.

            But when the
            road was put in,
            it was hard to get
from one place to the other.

It was very sad
When the water was polluted.

But it was still okay for us birds.
             It sounds
             like car engines
r            roaring against
             wind.
It smells like car gas and
             burning rubber.

POEMS BY JESS

BEFORE AFTER

Forest Life

Ahh,
Fresh air
Just-picked lettuce
and carrots
Cool stream water

Hop, Hop,
Hoppity
I’m being chased
by a bear!!

Warm, cozy den
I sleep again.

Ahh Help

Vroom, Vroom
I hear roaring engines!

I run from the lake to my burrow

I peek out
Ahhh!!

Big, Bad Bulldozers
Are knocking down the trees

(Next day)

I wake up and hop
out of my hole

Ahhh ! ! ! !

There are BIG
thingy’s on wheels

I scurry back into
my den

I am
SCAWED

POEMS BY SAM

BEFORE AFTER

I feel so good, clean
And fresh.
I’m so wonderfully happy that humans
Don’t trash and treat our
Wonderful forest bad.
All the animals go to sleep.
I am so sad
There are no more
wonderful worms and trees.
The road has covered up the worm holes.
Now,
I will die!
